Now that summer is winding down, you might notice your skin feeling drier, causing lines to make an unwanted appearance. Dry skin isnât just for winter, my friends! Of course, we all know that drinking a ton of water is key to healthy skin. But thereâs so much more to it than that!
First, letâs talk about hydration vs. moisture. They are the same thing, right?! Wrong! When it comes to skin, we need to take both into account separately. Think of it this way:
Hydration = binding water to the skinMoisturizer = oil or lotion that locks in hydration and also protects skinâs natural lipid barrier
Happy skin requires both! Keep this in mind as youâre going through your skincare routine each day. Often times, we forget to properly include both hydration and moisture for our skin. If youâre providing hydration, but not following up with an oil or moisturizer to lock it in, it will just evaporate from your skin, leaving it dry and parched.
Your skin should never feel dry, tight, itchy, or parched. If it does, this is a sign you need to amp it up and give it some more love!
You might be wondering what that actually looks like or what to use. So now, weâre going to highlight some natural options available here at The Choosy Chick that will help your skin stay hydrated, moisturized, happy, and healthy! đŠ (oh, and they wonât leave your skin feeling heavy or greasy!)

I have really severe eczema so my skin is CONSTANTLY dry & Iâm always fighting to keep the patches at bay. Obviously I didnât always use natural, âcleanâ skin care. When I first made the switch, I only used oil based products and thought they would moisturize my skin. However, my skin was still dry and tight once the oils were absorbed and I could not figure out what I was doing wrong!. Then I did some experimenting and, youâre right! Hydrating and moisturizing are so different. Thank you for writing about this and sharing some products!!
