Rosehips and skin benefits of Rosehip Oil

Ready to have your mind blown?  I’m about to tell you about one single ingredient that will totally change your skincare routine.  Ready?  It’s so simple.  Organic rosehip oil.

It’s quite amazing, actually!  The history of this miracle ingredient goes way back to ancient Egyptians, Mayans and Native Americans that used it for its healing properties.

SKIN BENEFITS:

Skin Regeneration & Wrinkle Fighter

Rosehip is an amazing skin regenerator.  It has high levels of essential fatty acids, linoleic acid, linolenic acid, oleic acid, carotenoids, polyphenols, and antioxidants.  All of these contribute to an intense healing process and promote cell turnover.  The rapid cell turnover also helps keep pores unclogged and stimulates collagen production.  This often results in skin with fewer breakouts.  The healing properties of rosehip also help improve skin texture and quality, increasing the elasticity too.  Basically, rosehip promotes radiant, balanced skin all while smoothing fine lines and wrinkles!

High in Vitamins A & C

Move over oranges, rosehips are actually one of the world’s richest sources of Vitamin C!  Who knew.  It also has an incredible amount of Vitamin A which is a natural retinol.

Dry Oil

Rosehip is a dry oil meaning it absorbs quickly without leaving a heavy or oily residue on your skin, making it ideal for all skin types (even dry skin!).

Reduces Redness & Inflammation

All of the essential fatty acids in rosehip oil can help reduce redness and inflammation of the skin. It can help combat the effects of eczema and has even been used topically for soothing arthritis pain!

Great for Dark Spots, Scarring, Acne Scars, & Hyperpigmentation

Because of the antioxidants, vitamins, and fatty acids in rosehip oil, it’s a great asset for dark spots, scarring and hyperpigmentation of the skin. It also offers protection against age spots and reduces sun damage.  To date, rosehip oil has effectively been used to help burn victims because it flattens out scarring and balances out the color of scars and surrounding skin.

PROVEN RESULTS:

Don’t believe me? There have been so many studies around rosehip oil and it’s actually been proven to help skin!

  1. “In a two-year study*, rosehip oil was applied to 180 patients with surgical, traumatic and burn scars, as well as to a group suffering from premature aging of the skin.  The results were remarkable.  Continuous application of rosehip oil effectively attenuated scars and wrinkles, halted advancement of premature aging, and restored lost skin natural color and tone.”

  2. In a study* about the effectiveness of rosehip oil on scarring, “Ten women, aged between 45 and 68 who had undergone unilateral or bilateral mastectomy were selected.   Applications of rosehip oil were made starting on the day when the surgical stitches were removed.  After washing the area with tepid water and soap and carefully drying, the oil was applied by soft massage.  After three months of applying twice daily (morning and evening) it was noted that the scars were less apparent, without lumps and that skin elasticity had improved and the color of the area had improved significantly.”

  3. In a study** about the effectiveness of rosehip oil on hyperpigmentation and wrinkles: “Volunteers were selected from people who usually spend the 3 months of summer in resorts by the sea or who go to the beach every day.  The tests were carried out on 20 women aged between 25 and 35.  The most frequently noted signs were surface wrinkles and brown spots.  All applied rosehip oil on the face during four months.  Significant changes were noted starting on the third week.  Surface wrinkles started to disappear and spots started to fade.  By the end of the fourth month, skin presented a smooth and fresh aspect and the spots had almost disappeared.”

I was wondering if one needs to be cautious in the sun when using the rosehip oil……..does it make the skin more sensitive?

Thanks
