We wanted to know more about this dynamic woman and her skincare line - so this is what she had to share with us:
1. We know you were inspired to create your own line after being diagnosed with an auto-immune disorder. Can you tell us more? What other lifestyle changes have you made to help manage your condition?
Simply put, I was seeking ways to feel better. After being diagnosed and not really understanding what I was up against, I really didn't change much. After a few years, I decided to really start paying attention to what I put in my body quickly followed up by what I put on my body. I had no idea the plethora of endocrine disruptors that are in almost all conventional mainstream beauty products. That's what brought me to creating what I was unable to find on the open market.
2. What type of skin is Kari Gran recommended for and what kind of changes can people expect to see in their skin after using? How do the ingredients in your products benefit the skin?
We think the line is for all ages and skin types. The biggest result people will find is that their skin is hydrated. Think about how much better you feel when you are dehydrated and get enough water during the day. That's how your skin feels, not parched or thirsty. Honestly, hydrated skin is really happy skin. All of the ingredients were chosen specifically for their skin nourishing properties and nature really does know best.
3. When you are not busy making your beautiful products, what do you love to do in your spare time?
I love all things vintage so I could spend hours in an antique mall in the middle of nowhere. I also keep myself sane with 20 minutes, twice a day dedicated to my TM practice and love to travel and good food. Luckily, my family shares in all of the above!
4. For fun: Favorite food? Favorite TV show, movie??
Favorite food is Vietnamese, so fresh and flavorful (although I really love Indian as well, that's a hard one). I would have to say my favorite movie is HBO's Grey Gardens. I cannot get enough of those Beale girls. I would have to cast a vote for Project Runway for a TV show. I'm constantly amazed by the talent and creativity.
5. What are some of your favorite natural products at The Choosy Chick?
Waxelene: what a wonderful alternative to Vaseline. I'm also a big fan of the Badger line, from the sunscreens to balms.
6. What can we expect from Kari Gran in the future?
We have found so much love from our clients based on the simplicity of the line, we don't want to mess with a good thing. What has been fun is playing with new colors for the Lip Whip and we'll be launching a new color this year.
